You me at six: “listen to different genres helped us to craft and write this record”

Night People” has came out on 6th January. They will be back in Italy on 16th March in Bologna. They’re You me at six, and this is our interview with them. Check it out for something special about the new album.

Hi guys! Your next album,”Night People” will be out the 6th of January. Can you tell something about it?
We are happy to finally release this record out to the rest of the world now, it’s been a long time coming. We started the recording process nearly a year ago now, so its exciting for us to see how the reaction of the songs will go. I keep getting told there is a bit of a Nashville vibe on the tracks, but still maintaining a You Me At Six sound which is interesting to hear but also cool that people are noticing moments on the tracks of where we recorded it.

How actually has been working with such a producer as Jaquire King? I mean, he’s like kinda notorious.
Notorious is the right word, Jacquire is one of the most well known producers in the music industry. From winning Grammy’s with Kings of Leon, to working with artist such as James Bay, Norah Jones and Tom Waits. For us we love Jacquire’s sound on the record’s he has made over the years and was a real honour to work with someone of that level. He really helped us develop this record to what we wanted it to be, from creating electronicbe dding tracks on most of the songs to us playing this record live all together as we were recording. I would say it was a natural experience that you can feel whilst listening to the songs.

Do you usually take inspiration from a particular style or  you prefer being more “open” to every genre?
To be open and listen to any style of music will really help you develop as a musician. You can listen to a style of music that you don’t normally listen to and actually discover new tricks for song writing that will help you out. I think you can tell on this record we listened to different genres that helped us craft and write this record.

Who will you prefer to share the stage with during a festival?
The best thing about festivals is that it doesn’t matter who is playing in my opinion. Its a time in the industry different genres of music can meet up together and play infront of one audience. You get to meet some amazing people because of this and see great artists, this is why I love festivals.

Now a different one: which drink describes You Me at Six best?
Aperol Spritz. Fruity….

You will play again in Italy in 2017 (16 march, Bologna): do you like our country?
Obviously we like Italy, we haven’t actually been a lot of times but the reception we are getting from you guys is amazing and we can’t wait to play to more people and share our music with more fans.
